Hello Snow Sport Families!

Just a quick reminder that Mr. Kelley will be hosting a Zoom meeting on Thursday, Jan. 5th at 6:30PM to review all the details, answer questions, and make sure that everything is in place for the students to have an amazing time at Okemo! The meeting should take about 30 minutes or so.

There will be a meeting for the volunteers (online, please stay on the call) immediately after the general meeting.

Please check your email or the CAES PTG Facebook for the Zoom link.

There will be a student meeting (in person at school), as well and families should feel free to reach out to Mr. Kelley with any questions.

Reminder the start date for the program is Thursday, January 12.

Snow Sport Volunteers

With winter sports registrations underway, we would like to firm up adult volunteer numbers for the 2022/23 Okemo/CAES Snowsport program.

We need both on-snow and lodge volunteers, so please step forward if you think you can help!

To become an official snowsport Volunteer, please follow these steps:

1. Fill out this Google Form. Please submit it by Thursday, Dec 09. Everyone should do this, even if you already emailed to say you'd like to be a snowsport volunteer.

2. Make sure you are cleared to volunteer and have a current background check in place. This includes returning volunteers. Read this document for information about how to renew your status or do your first background check/fingerprinting.

3. New volunteers who need fingerprints: Chester PD may schedule a specific fingerprinting session just for CAES. Please hold off on contacting them for a few days while we get numbers together.

Got questions?

More details to follow once forms are in!

Winter Sports: Updates

Keep watching this space! Winter Sport forms went home with students on Wednesday and Thursday. Please read the instructions in your pack and make sure you return your forms by Monday, December 05

Financial Aid: Please reach out to Cindy Cole for information about Financial Aid. Students who qualify for Free Lunch pay reduced rates for passes and ski rentals. Other students can also access discounted rates for passes but must fill out a financial aid first.

As a reminder:

Winter sports consists of a ski/snowboard program at Okemo, swimming at Edgar May and a kindergarten program. A sledding program was added on 12/02.

-The programs will run on Thursdays for 7 weeks (January 12, 19, 26; February 2, 9, 16 and March 2). There is no skiing or programming on the week of February vacation.

-Swimmers should make sure they have towels and wearing the proper attire (please read the form carefully for further details).

-Ski/snowboard details: Okemo is offering the program for $35. There will be bus transportation provided to the mountain. There is no bus transportation back to the school from the Okemo program.

-Equipment rentals for ski/snowboard: The rental fee is $65 this season. Okemo will only offer ski rentals, not snowboards. Helmet rentals are not available for rental but are required for the program. Okemo has a very low inventory of rentals so please make sure to attend the rental event at Okemo on Dec 6 and 7 from 4 to 7 p.m.

-Volunteers needed for Snow Sports! People on the PTG mailing list received a volunteer email earlier this month with information about paperwork and background checks. Please email caesptg@ gmail.com if you missed out on that info. Volunteer forms for snow sports will be available shortly on this website.

The Mitten Tree

The Mitten Tree is up and still has mittens on it--can you help? The mittens are for families who could use a little extra help during the holiday. Please feel free to take one or as many as you would like. If you wrap your gift please just put the mitten with the gift and we will distribute the gifts to the families. Mitten gifts should be returned to CAES no later than December 12th. Thanks in advance to all of the nice elves in ours school community!

Want to help but can't make it into school? Please call Cindy Cole at the Main Office (802-875-6831) to claim a mitten.

A visit from "Big Dog"

The CAES students got a visit the other week from Chad at VTrans and got to meet the snow plow they named through the VTrans "Name a Plow" program. The school decided on "Big Dog" with Pickle and Kaplowie as the runners up.  Each classroom had an opportunity to have their picture taken while hearing about Chad's job and how the plow operates. Thank you VTrans and Chad for taking the time to make this fun program happen--we look forward to seeing Big Dog out and about once the snow arrives!

Thanks for visiting!
